Smiths (WA) DC and AC power units
The Series 30 range, manufactured by leading British company Smiths Industries, offers a crisp new design approach to an old hydraulics problem. The result is a revolutionary range of directional valves designed for applications where size, weight and efficiency are premium considerations.
As designers of this range, Smiths have taken an industry lead in valve design where high flow rates are controlled by smaller segments. Known to many for their highly regarded range of compact power packs, Smiths is quality accredited to British Standard BSS5750Pt 1/ISO 9001.
Series 30 valves, which are rated to 30 litres/min flow, are only 36mm wide. Additionally, the elimination of subplates and manifolds allows the horizontally bankable valves to be used in confined spaces where conventional subplate mounted valve stacks are too bulky.
As a result, space savings of up to 50% can be achieved, while the design offers the flexibility demanded by today’s systems. Up to eight directional sections of modules (16 with the optional connector plate) can be banked as a single unit with common Pressure and Tank galleries in a parallel circuit. For even greater economy and compactness, the P and T end sections are each combined with a working spool section.
To maximise the effectiveness of the Series 30 range in Australian applications, Pressure Dynamics has produced a slim-line manifold block for direct connection to the Smiths power pack. This permits multiple operation for 12 and 24 V DC and AC industrial power packs.
The compactness and lightness of the Series 30 valves, combined with their rugged, high quality construction, will be welcomed by all small power pack users.
PD2000 series
In 1985, Dave Briggs had an idea; to produce small cylinders to work with the big-selling Smiths line of DC/AC Power Packs. Since Pressure Dynamics commenced manufacture of their PD2000 small-bore range of hydraulic cylinders, the business has grown at a remarkable rate.
Since 1989 alone, Pressure Dynamics has produced over 15000 Smiths packs and more than 18000 PD2000 cylinders
The Smiths team have an interesting motto: ‘If you can’t lift it, we won’t build it’.
